Chapter 18

Bella's Mini King Cakes
A King Cake is a special dessert that has been passed down from generation to generation to aide in the celebration of Mardi Gras. It originated in New Orleans in the eighteenth century and still is alive and well today. The cinnamon dough can be plain or embedded with different types of fillings including, cream cheese, pralines and preserves. Once baked they are iced and decorated in Mardi Gras colors.

Chapter 17

The meal Bella made for Edward and Emmett
Appetizer: FRIED GREEN TOMATOES accompanied by large, meaty chunks of Louisiana crab, and served on a bed of greens with a drizzle of Remoulade. 

Entrée: SHRIMP AND GRITS with Andouille and smoked tomatoes. Deep fried grits with bacon served with big head-on gulf shrimp.

Dessert: RED WINE CAKE a red velvet cake made with red wine and German butter cream frosting.
